Description
The medieval carver-dish from the Villa Abbas Cooperative is a ceramic piece made using ancient techniques. The artefact represents a re-elaboration of a Valencian majolica cutlery dish of Iberian import. The original has a zoomorphic decoration in cobalt blue and lustre with a bird depiction, dates back to the mid 14th century (medieval age), and comes from the Monreale Castle in Sardara. The original dish is on display at the Civic Archaeological Museum 'Villa Abbas' in Sardara. The object is made entirely by hand, can be used both as a furnishing component and for serving food, and has two practical holes on the back that allow it to be fixed to the wall.
