La Tenuta Sabbiosa rises in front of the Sardinian sea, among the dunes of Sant'Antioco Island. An "island within an island" that until the 1980s was covered by Carignano vineyards. Bush-trained vines grew right up to the beaches on sandy soil lashed all year round by strong mistral winds. Small, centuries-old vineyards have survived here. One of these is the starting point for the production of Tenuta la Sabbiosa wines. It took years of trials and experiments to obtain the desired wine. "We searched for the essence of Carignano, we wanted to go back to the valorisation of the grape, its perfumes, its flavours, its natural sapidity. We reduced processing and stabilisation to a minimum. Only if you are a bit crazy can you recover centuries-old vines, fight against the mistral and sandy soils, to obtain a modern wine from an ancient vine".
